The Food kit distribution during onam 2020 was a great appreciated charity, especially in the high range region of Kattappana and Kumily. The first week of August 2020 was really a horrible days for high range due to heavy storm and severe rainfall. Land sliding happened in many areas of the Kattappana and Kumily. Due to poverty and other financial crisis many people were in such a difficult situation. In that moment we thought of a food kit challenge. 20 items of food items were included in each food packet. We could provide to 2075 families.
The Inauguration of the Programme by His Grace Dr. Thomas Mar Koorilos
On 27th August 2020, Archbishop of Tiruvalla, Dr. Thomas Mar Koorilos inaugurated the programme at St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church, Baalagram. The vicar of Baalagram Parish, Rev.Fr. Prasad OIC welcomed the gathering. Executive Director of Bodhana, Tiruvalla social service Society, gave the introductory speech and the inaugural address was delivered by the archbishop. High range coordinator, Msgr. Varghese Maruthoor, High range Mission coordinator, Rev. Fr. Varghese Vallikkattu, Kumily District Vicar, Rev. Fr. Varghese Pallickal, Kattappana District Vicar, Fr. Pradeep vazhatharamalayil gave the felicitation. Onam songs were sung by MCCL students, Baalagram Parish. And the secretary of the high range region, Rev. Fr. John Padippurackal gave the vote of thanks. The total cost of the project was 14 lakhs rupees including the transportation and packing.
